U.S. Mike Collins Makes Ethereum Investments of $110,000

Georgia’s Representative, Mike Collins, has reportedly invested in Ethereum, the popular cryptocurrency. According to the latest financial report documents submitted to the U.S. House of Representatives, Collins made two Ethereum (ETH) purchases in early 2024, totaling up to $65,000. This report highlights that he had previously declared an investment of up to $45,000 in Ether during 2023.

U.S. Representative Collins reported investments in Ethereum totaling $110,000 as part of his mandatory financial reports to Congress under the STOCK Act on January 9, 2024. His recent transactions include purchasing Ethereum worth $15,000 on January 3 and an additional $50,000 on January 8. This active engagement in cryptocurrency trading dates back to at least 2023.

The reports align with an 11% rise in Ethereum’s market value over a week. This increase may be linked to expectations about the U.S. SEC’s decision on a Bitcoin ETF. The U.S. is on the border of a potential government shutdown, with a deadline of January 19 to pass a new spending bill.

The political scene is boosted by the Republican Party’s 2024 Presidential Election debates scheduled to start on January 10 in Iowa. Pro-crypto candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, who currently has a 6% poll rating in Iowa, will be absent from these debates. Key debate participants include prominent figures such as Florida Governor Ron Desantis and Nikki Haley.
