Six Flags launches metaverse experience in Roblox

Six Flags has launched its new metaverse experience in Roblox, offering virtual coasters, Fright Fest mazes and interactive games.

In Six Flags’ new virtual world, users can explore and interact with their favourite attractions, and earn rewards for the physical parks.

The platform in Roblox utilises proprietary ‘Coastercoin’ software by technology company Digital Twin. This lets users collect the coins and redeem them for Six Flags rewards and activities at Six Flags parks.

“Bringing Six Flags to Roblox has enabled us to create a one-of-a-kind metaverse experience that will engage and entertain our fans in innovative ways,” said Selim Bassoul, CEO of Six Flags.

“This initiative underscores our dedication to pioneering new entertainment frontiers and setting industry standards.”

Omar Jacques Omran, CTO of Six Flags, said: “Our goal is to create immersive experiences that allow our guests to explore the excitement of Six Flags in a whole new way by seamlessly integrating the digital and physical worlds.”

The Six Flags Metaverse is now live on Roblox and accessible to users across the globe. It is part of Six Flags’ digital transformation, which was unveiled earlier this year.

AI and new technologies at Six Flags

AI is a cornerstone of the digital strategy. One element is a new digital concierge powered by generative AI and named Missi Six on the Six Flags app and website.

The company’s new website will also use AI to personalise the visitor experience, while the app is being revamped to include interactive maps, mobile food ordering, and customised recommendations.

Additionally, Six Flags is rolling out state-of-the-art video and photo technology on its coasters, innovating its F&B and retail offerings, using new sensors in its parks, and introducing an AI drowning prevention system at its water parks.

In more news, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has approved the proposed merger of Cedar Fair and Six Flags, which is set to close today (1 July).
