The Sandbox and Upland Innovate Together to Lead the way in the Open Metaverse

What does the Open Metaverse look like? Leading Web3 Metaverse platforms, Upland and The Sandbox are dipping their toes in the future of interoperable virtual worlds. In a first-of-its-kind collaboration these two innovative gaming platforms are building new bridges in virtual spaces.

Get ready for a groundbreaking union in the Web3 metaverse! The Sandbox and Upland, leading decentralized gaming platforms, have announced a history-making partnership designed to ignite community creation and participation across both their ecosystems.

Merging Virtual Worlds

Both platforms have agree to provide a home for eachother, allowing both communities to explore and discover its in-game benefits. Imagine a thriving Upland headquarters nestled within The Sandbox’s vibrant world, and a dedicated Sandbox neighborhood within one of Upland’s bustling cities. To celebrate the collaboration, a joint design competition will unleash the creative potential of both communities.

Design, Exploration, and Rewards

The initial phase focuses on community engagement. The Sandbox will drop exclusive virtual properties from its neighborhood within Upland for LAND owners. “Uplanders” can also win SAND tokens and unique NFTs by completing tasks in The Sandbox.

In a special occasion to mark the collaboration, representatives from both platforms will unveil partnership details and share their vision during a fireside chat at Upland’s Genesis Week live event at the Sahara Hotel in Las Vegas on June 7. To celebrate, The Sandbox will offer a limited number of free tickets for nearby LAND owners.

“This partnership signifies a revolution in digital interaction,” says Sebastien Borget, COO and Co-Founder of The Sandbox. It opens doors for creators and players to connect across platforms, fostering a vibrant ecosystem of interoperable experiences.

A Step Towards the Open Metaverse

“This is the first collaboration of its kind, enriching the experience for both communities,” highlights Dirk Lueth, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Upland. It’s a significant step towards the vision of an Open Metaverse where players and assets move freely for a truly immersive web experience.

Both platforms are founding members of the OMA3 (Open Metaverse Alliance for Web3), solidifying their commitment to an open and interoperable virtual future. This partnership is a glimpse into the exciting possibilities that lie ahead in the ever-evolving Web3 metaverse.

Why the Metaverse needs to be open?

The metaverse thrives on connection. To reach its full potential, it needs interoperability, allowing users to seamlessly move between virtual worlds with their avatars and digital assets. Imagine buying a cool outfit in one platform and wearing it across another. A closed-off metaverse, controlled by individual companies, would limit innovation.

An open metaverse, championed by collaborations like The Sandbox and Upland, fosters a more dynamic and user-centric virtual future. This open approach is crucial for the metaverse to become a truly interconnected and immersive experience.
